CARAVAN SALON, the world’s leading trade fair for mobile homes and RVs, boasts new record figures. Due to the use of an additional exhibition hall, CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF will bigger than ever. Joachim Schäfer, Managing Director of Messe Düsseldorf, stated: “We are delighted with the continued growth of CARAVAN SALON. Once again, the entire RV industry will be represented here in Düsseldorf. A total of 590 national and international exhibitors with 130 RV and motor home brands will present their innovations and current models in twelve halls as well as on the outdoor exhibition space. On 2.2 million square feet, about 2,100 recreational vehicles in all sizes and styles can be admired.” CARAVAN SALON will take place from August 27 – September 4, 2016 at the fairgrounds in Düsseldorf, Germany.

At CARAVAN SALON 2016, the entire RV market will be represented: RVs and mobile homes, basic vehicles, accessories, technical equipment, detachable parts, awnings, mobile homes, campsites, trailer parks as well as travel destinations. “Various manufacturers approached us asking us for more exhibition space in order to be able to present a wider variety of vehicles. Messe Düsseldorf as the organizers and the Caravanning Industry Association (CIVD) as the conceptual sponsors have responded to this request by extending the exhibition space to include Hall 4,” explained Stefan Koschke, Director of CARAVAN SALON. The event has traditionally been the new product launch date for the RV sector – in 2016, manufacturers will again present fascinating trends, innovative developments and numerous global launches.

Unique range of vehicles, innovations and trends
RV vacations are becoming more popular and the sector is experiencing a boom, with a bright outlook for 2016. “In Düsseldorf every RV enthusiast will find his/her personal dream vehicle: from compact “iconic” RVs and spacious motor homes for families to luxury mobile homes complete with fireplace, rain shower or on-board sauna,” said Hans-Karl Sternberg, General Manager of the Caravanning Industry Association (CIVD). Still enjoying popularity are compact vehicles such as van conversions or partially integrated motor homes. “Many entry-level models are already available for small budgets while the sky is the limit in the luxury segment,” added Hans-Karl Sternberg.

A multitude of new RVs and mobile homes models for 2017 will be on show. Aerodynamic designs and the use of new, smart lightweight construction characterize the current generation of RVs. Digital applications such as BUS systems continue to be a big trend. For interior design the focus is on intelligent furniture, smart space allocation and functional design.

Halls 4, 9 to 12 and 14 to 17 will house RVs and mobile homes while camping accessories will be on display in Hall 5. Exhibitors with technical parts can be found in Hall 13. The tourism segment with campsites and Rv pitches as well as travel destinations will be located in Hall 7.

Raffle of high-quality vehicles
The CIVD will take part not only with an information stand but also with a special show. Celebrating CARAVAN SALON’s 55th anniversary, visitors can look forward to an exciting journey through time at activity stands. In addition, the CIVD will organize a raffle to win an RV and a luxury mobile home.

StarterWorld – Mobile Travelling “Discover. Inform. GetGoing”
After the successful debut last year, experts will once again share important RV know-how and practice in the special show “StarterWorld – Mobile Travelling. Discover. Inform. GetGoing”. The unbiased and manufacturer-independent contact point addresses both new and experienced RV fans. In the StarterWorld, practical tips and recommendations for vehicle types, travel routes, equipment, vehicle technology and campsite choices will be provided. On stage, industry experts will talk about a wide variety of topics related to RV holidays while visitors can share ideas and experiences at a “roundtable”.

Entertainment Program
The CARAVAN SALON exhibits will be complemented by an informative entertainment program. The Dream Tours cinema will show unique travel destinations such as China, Iceland, Northern Russia, Norway, Namibia and South Africa as well as highlights along the Pan-American Highway. The vintage car exhibition will this year be under the heading of “55 Years of CARAVAN SALON”. On the popular outdoor E-Bike Circuit attendees can test drive e-bikes, e-motorcycles and eco-movers.

Many of the RV fans will travel to the event in their own vehicles, with about 65,000 attendees spending the night in their RVs or mobile homes at the Caravan Center offering more than 3,500 serviced and non-serviced spaces.

Tickets valid for two days
This year, CARAVAN SALON E-tickets will be non-transferrable and include admission on two separate days. Tickets cost Euro 14 each and include free use of public transportation within the VRR network on all days of the trade fair. They can be ordered online at starting in July 2016.

As in the past, TourNatur - trade fair for hiking and trekking - will again be held parallel with CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF on the second weekend (September 2 – 4). In hall 6, hiking enthusiasts will get information on the most beautiful hiking destinations and the latest hiking and trekking equipment. A total of 275 exhibitors will present about 5,000 travel destinations, while independent hiking experts will offer tips for planning tours.
