At this year’s CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF, the world’s largest trade fair for motor homes and caravans, over 600 international exhibitors will present 130 caravan and motor home brands and more than 2,100 recreation vehicles on 2.3 million square feet of gross exhibit space in 13 halls. The event will take place from August 26 (trade visitor and media day on August 25) – September 3, 2017 at the fairgrounds in Düsseldorf, Germany.

CARAVAN SALON 2017 will cover all market segments. No other trade fair offers visitors such a large choice of brands, models and layouts. In addition to the diversity of RVs and motor homes, accessories, technical equipment, fittings, and awnings will be on display as well as information about campsites and travel destinations.

Joachim Schäfer, Managing Director of the organizer Messe Düsseldorf, commented: “Caravanning and the whole segment of mobile leisure continues to experience a real boom and attracts large numbers of people. Freedom, independence, proximity to nature and, above all, that desire to get to know unknown regions and cities are the reasons that make this kind of vacationing so fascinating. The demand from exhibitors was so high that we had to enlarge our exhibition area again.”

The Industry’s No. 1 Trade Fair
“CARAVAN SALON is the No. 1 fair and trend barometer for the industry. The great success of CARAVAN SALON has stimulated the interest of other European and international companies – following the extension of the vehicles halls last year this applies particularly to the equipment and accessories industry. We expect the number of firms exhibiting in this segment to increase further and, hence, exceed 600 exhibitors in total. The outlook is superb and we are looking to this year’s event with optimism,” added CARAVAN SALON Director Stefan Koschke.

New Features in the Accessories Segment
For the 2017 event, the accessories segment will be reorganized. “To maintain the trade fair’s great appeal it is necessary to present the market for accessories as complete as possible. New suppliers from North America, Asia and Eastern Europe as well as requests by participating accessories vendors to adapt the hall structure to the increased demand have prompted us to install a second technology area in Hall 5. This means we will substantially expand the ranges of fittings, installations and technical equipment yet again,” explained Stefan Koschke.

In Hall 7a a new accessories area will be created exclusively dedicated to over-the-counter sales of caravanning and camping accessories. In Hall 5 the traditional showcase of awnings and roof-top tents as well as folding caravans will be continued alongside the new technology area. The tourism section with campsites and motor home parks as well as travel destinations will still be housed in Hall 7.

Leisure vehicles in all sizes and variations
Every year CARAVAN SALON is the place where all renowned international manufacturers present a wide and varied spectrum of their latest generation of recreational vehicles. According to Daniel Onggowinarso, CEO of the Caravanning Industry Association (CIVD): “At the No. 1 fair in Düsseldorf everything is represented - from compact and clever to spacious and luxurious. Here everyone with an interest in caravanning finds the right vehicle.” In the luxury category just about every customer’s wish can be catered to. Compact models are in especially high demand.

Dominating trends are “comfort” and “connectivity”. Driver’s assistance systems make travelling safer and more pleasant and electronic tools ease handling. Living spaces are also more comfortable due to modern materials and comprehensive features. Progressive networking makes it possible to have digital fill level indicators for water tanks and to control heating, air-conditioning and hot water supply centrally – even by smart phone.

“StarterWorld – Discover Camping & Caravanning”
“StarterWorld – Discover Camping & Caravanning” is a first contact point for caravanning independent of any manufacturers. In various themed worlds both beginners and seasoned caravanning enthusiasts will get information about mobile vacationing.

“Last year we succeeded in bringing more first-time visitors to CARAVAN SALON. Many of these “newbies” deliberately head for the StarterWorld to gather some general information enabling them to take the right purchasing decisions,” commented Stefan Koschke. Experts at the “StarterWorld” will provide hands-on tips and recommendations on vehicle types, travel routes and the right choice of campsites.

CARAVAN SALON is also famous for its entertainment program, making it a “family affair”. A new feature will be “Mountainbike-Parcours”. In addition to performances by professional riders, visitors are also welcome to try the Pumptrack challenges. At the “E-Bike-Parcours” on the outdoor area between Halls 5 and 9 attendees will have the opportunity to test e-bikes, e-motorcycles and eco-movers.

At the Dream Tours Cinema, Janette Emerich, Uwe Hamm and Konstantin Abert will report daily about their fascinating travels in multi-vision shows. Destinations will include Allgäu (winter camping in the Alps), the Baltics and St. Petersburg, Baikal Sea and Mongolia, France (by motorhome from the Loire to the Atlantic), Panamericana (from Tierra del Fuego to the Caribbean) and Düsseldorf to Beijing (by Land to the Middle Kingdom).

Caravan Center
Many of the RV fans will travel to the event in their own vehicles, with about 65,000 attendees spending the night in their RVs or mobile homes at the Caravan Center offering more than 3,500 serviced and non-serviced spaces. In 2017 visitors will again be able to pre-book a space online at

Tickets valid for two days
CARAVAN SALON 2017 E-tickets will be non-transferrable and include admission on two separate days. Tickets cost Euro 14 each and include free use of public transportation within the VRR network on all days of the trade fair. They can be ordered online at

TourNatur held concurrently
As in the past, TourNatur - trade fair for hiking and trekking - will again be held parallel with CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF on the second weekend (September 1 – 3). In hall 6, hiking enthusiasts will get information on hiking destinations and the latest hiking and trekking equipment. A total of 275 exhibitors will present about 5,000 travel destinations, while independent hiking experts will offer tips for planning tours.
