CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF 2013 EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS

With increased visitor numbers, good sales figures and numerous new launches, CARAVAN SALON DÜSSELDORF 2013, The No. 1 Show for Motor Homes and Caravans, impressively demonstrated that the great interest in RVs and RV vacations continues. With 570 exhibitors from 22 countries, the event provided positive impulses for the entire industry.

“With 175,000 visitors, this year’s CARAVAN SALON has by far exceeded our expectations of over 160,000 visitors. Despite the tense economic situation, visitors and RV enthusiasts from all over the world came here to meet their business partners and gather information on innovations,” stated Joachim Schäfer, Managing Director of Messe Düsseldorf. “Additionally, it is particularly positive to note that despite the current market climate in Europe around 25,000 attendees from abroad traveled to Düsseldorf.”

Hermann Pfaff, Vice-President of the Caravanning Industry Association (Germany), was also very pleased with the results of the trade fair: “We are pleasantly surprised by the high visitor numbers and their willingness to buy. The results have clearly exceeded our expectations and interest has risen yet again. The good results produced by the event and the positive mood among both customers and dealers are important for the industry as a whole.” He also noted that demand in the RV segment increased.

This positive outcome of CARAVAN SALON 2013 was also confirmed by the majority of the exhibitors who reported avid interest and satisfactory sales, making CARAVAN SALON a “must-go-to” event for the RV sector even in difficult times.

Dr. Holger Siebert, CEO of Eura Mobil GmbH, noted an increase in the number of Dutch visitors as well as of new customers: “Due to the advertising campaign launched by the association and the activities of Messe Düsseldorf, significantly more visitors have come to CARAVAN SALON than expected. We have concluded noticeably more sales deals than in the previous year. The exhibition in Düsseldorf was very successful and is sure to give the sector a boost over the next few months.”

Delighted with the throng of visitors at the Hobby stand, CEO Klaus Dieter Böcker, remarked: “We have achieved one of our best results at the trade fair ever with our mobile homes but also in the caravan segments.”

“We have achieved last year’s sales figures and have even clearly surpassed them in some segments. To us, CARAVAN SALON is definitely the No. 1 trade fair and is even more important this year since trade fair activities in other European countries have dropped significantly,” said Jörg Reithmeier, CEO of HYMER AG.

Exhibitors also agreed unanimously on the quality of the talks they had with the visitors. Wolfgang Speck, CEO of Knaus Tabbert GmbH, commented: “Visitors were well informed and we succeeded in getting numerous new customers. In terms of total sales we are currently at the previous year’s levels - which is a considerable achievement in view of the overall situation on the markets.”

Marco Lange, CEO of la strada, was delighted with the good sales and high-quality conversations with customers: “CARAVAN SALON is the absolute No. 1 trade fair and is just as important for our industry as IAA is for the automotive sector. And it will stay that way in the future, too.”

CARAVAN SALON 2013 was also a success for upstream suppliers. Verena Flowers, in charge of trade fair presentations at Truma Gerätetechnik, summed it up: “We can look back on an extremely successful event. Visitors were very interested in high-quality furnishing components. At our stand we welcomed many international business partners, even from China, Japan and the U.S.”

In the tourism segment, exhibitors also praised the higher visitor numbers and quality. “We are satisfied and have concluded many business deals and reservations. We had a positive experience,” mentioned Jürgen Dieckert, CEO of TopPlatz.

The hiking trade fair TourNatur was again held concurrently with CARAVAN SALON. A total of 275 exhibitors showcased the latest hiking equipment and products to 35,000 attendees.

The next CARAVAN SALON will be held in Düsseldorf, Germany from August 29 (trade visitor and media day) - September 7, 2014 (TourNatur will take place from September 5 - 7, 2014).
