Internships available at Messe Düsseldorf North America

Our company offers two to three general internships per year with durations between 4 and 6 months. These are general internships and include all departments in our company as well as daily administrative duties.

We ask internship applicants to submit a resume along with a cover letter detailing on why an internship at our office benefits them and how it relates to their field of study. Please also include the time frame of the internship you are applying for.

We encourage U.S. Students with a focus on international business or international studies to apply. An interest in German language is helpful but not necessary.

All overseas student applicants must obtain a J-1 visa. Along with their resume and cover letter a confirmation should be submitted that the student is eligible for this visa. Information may be found at:

The International Connection

Messe Düsseldorf North America (MDNA) is the U.S. subsidiary of the Düsseldorf Trade Fair Company (Messe Düsseldorf) - one of the world's largest organizers of trade shows for the machinery, medical, leisure, and fashion industries. Messe Düsseldorf was the first German trade show organizer to establish a permanent, fully staffed office in the U.S. when it opened MDNA in 1982. MDNA also represents Messe Düsseldorf ASIA and IGEDO Company. Our exhibition program is truly global.

MDNA serves as an international link for U.S. companies by assisting with everything necessary to exhibit at or visit one of the trade shows in Düsseldorf. We also offer American firms the opportunity to take part within one of the U.S. Pavilions organized by MDNA.

Over 40 different trade shows are held regularly in Düsseldorf, twenty of which are Number 1 worldwide in their respective industries. These world-famous shows form the core of our business and provide the basis for Messe Düsseldorf's global expansion.

-General Internship-

The intern will be assisting in all facets of marketing and promotion of trade shows, database entry, general clerical duties, front desk and answering customer inquiries by telephone, mail and e-mail as well as doing research. Attendance at a trade show in Chicago may be included in the internship.

Internships are full-time at approximately 40 hours per week and will be compensated.

Qualified individuals should possess:

  • Business writing and communication skills
  • A positive team-oriented attitude
  • Computer skills (Word environment)
  • Typing ability
  • Detail oriented, dependable and diligent
  • German language knowledge helpful but not necessary
  • U.S. work permit/visa required (for foreign students)
  • Social Security number required
