NEW GLASSTEC 2016 CONFERENCE TITLE: “FUNCTION MEETS GLASS”

The traditional “Solar Meets Glass” conference during glasstec 2016, International Trade Fair for Glass Production, Processing and Products, will be held with the new title “Function Meets Glass”. Taking place on September 19 and 20, 2016, the conference will examine how high-precision thin glass for display, touch, smart and solar glass is manufactured at the highest quality level, in short cycles and with maximum output. glasstec 2016 will take place from September 20 - 23, 2016 at the fairgrounds in Düsseldorf, Germany.

Whether it’s in façades, windows, vehicles, TVs, touch displays or OLEDs, functional glazing can now be found in nearly all spheres of life. The “Function Meets Glass” conference will highlight the requirements on the product and which special processes are possible using machinery and equipment for the production and processing of functional glass. High-caliber presentations by representatives of science and industry will inform about state-of-the-art technologies, products and processing for functional glass. On the first day of the conference the program will focus on machinery and equipment for the processing and finishing of functional glass. Day two will be about products, the market and applications. The latest products, technologies and future trends will be presented, showcasing the wide range of applications. In addition, there will be discussions on the special requirements for the production and processing of display glass, solar glass and switchable glass. The conference “Function Meets Glass” will be held as part of glasstec and in cooperation with the VDMA Glass Technology Forum, the Photovoltaic Equipment Workgroup and the East Bavarian Institute of Technology Transfer (OTTI). All presentations will be in English.

glasstec 2016 is a must for professionals in mechanical engineering, industry, architecture, the trade sector and solar power. Its wide-ranging ancillary program includes special shows and conferences, providing added value for all visitors. The main highlight of the trade fair will be the special show “glass technology live”, again organized by Prof. Stefan Behling, a Senior Executive Partner at Fosters & Partners and his team from IBK 2 (Institute of Construction Design) at the University of Stuttgart (Germany). This special show will feature spectacular exhibits, innovative products and pioneering solutions. This time the focus will be on free-form, ultra-thin and solid glass as well as on glass used for information purposes. Participation in any of the glasstec 2016 symposia will be free of charge for visitors.

Other special areas at glasstec 2016 will be the Crafts Centre with Craft LIVE (hands-on experience), the Glass and Façade Competence Center and the Glass Art exhibition.
