For the first time, more than 5,000 exhibitors from around 70 countries will participate in MEDICA 2016, the world's leading medical trade fair, to be held from November 14 – 17, 2016 at the fairgrounds in Düsseldorf, Germany. Visitors will be presented with the latest solutions for outpatient and inpatient care on the show floor as well as in lectures and presentations at the MEDICA CONNECTED HEALTHCARE FORUM (with the MEDICA App COMPETITION) and the MEDICA HEALTH IT FORUM.
The individual segments of MEDICA 2016 are clearly structured according to halls and include electromedicine/medical technology (more than 2,500 exhibitors), laboratory technology/diagnostics, physiotherapy/ orthopedic technology, commodities and consumables, information and communication technology, medical furniture and specialist furnishings for hospitals and doctors’ offices.
When it comes to digitalization of healthcare, MEDICA 2016 exhibitors will highlight iparticular wearables and smartphones in combination with special health apps. The topics of big data and artificial intelligence also continue to be of great interest. The Frauenhofer-Gesellschaft will debut a robot which can place biopsy needles with a high level of precision than a human.
The MEDICA ECON FORUM will also discuss the opportunities and consequences of healthcare digitalization. The forum, jointly organized by the Techniker Krankenkasse (TK, a German statutory health insurance company) and Messe Düsseldorf, has firmly established itself as a platform for health policy dialogue. German Federal Minister of Health, Hermann Gröhe, will take part in the opening of the Forum on November 14. Blogger Sascha Lobo and Dr. Jens Baas, Chief Executive Officer of the TK, will discuss the digital future of healthcare.
MEDICA is renowned for its combination of specialist trade fair, forum and conferences. The MEDICA MEDICINE & SPORTS CONFERENCE will address the use of applications in close proximity to the body and wearables for monitoring vital signs. The MEDICA EDUCATION CONFERENCE will dedicate each day to a specific topic, such as 3D laparoscopy, imaging and interventional procedures, future technologies for internal medicine as well as diagnostics in the fields of internal medicine, laboratory medicine, toxicology and hygiene. In addition, the 39th German Hospital Conference for the management of German clinics, the international DiMiMED conference for specialists from the field of disaster and military medicine as well as the MEDICA PHYSIO CONFERENCE will form a close content-oriented link on the topics of the trade fair.
COMPAMED, the leading international specialist trade fair for suppliers of the medical technology industry, will again be held concurrently with MEDICA. About 800 exhibitors will showcase their innovations at COMPAMED 2016. Together, both events will occupy all 19 halls of the Düsseldorf exhibition center. Last year, 130,000 visitors from around 120 nations attended the two trade shows.
