MEDICA 2017 TO FEATURE NEW MEDICA LABMED FORUM & MEDICA START-UP PARK

A new feature at this year’s MEDICA, the world’s largest medical trade fair, will be the MEDICA LABMED FORUM, focusing on the latest trends in laboratory medicine. With the key topic “The Interdisciplinary Fascination”, laboratory medicine, molecular pathology, microbiology, medical technology and life sciences will be presented as innovation drivers for the medical sector. MEDICA will take place from November 13 – 16, 2017 in Düsseldorf, Germany.

On four themed days, presentations and panel discussions in Hall 18 will cover the following highlights: Preventive screening tests for cancer, cardiac and circulatory conditions, innovative diabetes diagnostic tools, infection and migration. The events will take place daily between 11:00 am and 4:00 pm and are free for MEDICA trade fair visitors. The cooperation partner for the forum content for is the medical publishing house Trillium.

Hall 18 is a new, modern structure created from lightweight materials, centrally located between Halls 10 and 16. This temporary structure was specifically constructed for exhibitors from the laboratory technology and diagnostics sector, previously located in Halls 1 and 2. Due to the renovation of the fairground’s South Entrance, the old Halls 1 and 2 will be replaced by a new hall. This new Hall 1 will measure 518,300 feet in length and 252,600 feet in width, with over 129,000 square feet of floor space,

Healthcare is also experiencing changes - and not just in Germany. The digitalization of medical care processes is gaining significant momentum. Ever more healthcare applications are available for smartphones, tablets and wearables and are being used more often. About 45% of German smartphone owners are already using health apps and another 45% can envision using them. Furthermore, 60% of Germans approve of the concept of an electronic patient file to store their medical data centrally (Source: Bitkom/ Bayerische TelemedAllianz BTA).

Another new feature will be MEDICA START-UP PARK in Hall 15, highlighting digital start-up companies with their eHealth applications ranging from innovative services and smart products to software applications. This will bring founders of innovative businesses together with potential business partners, investors and distribution partners. A maximum of 40 start-ups can book their space on a total of 5,380 square feet (apply via email: exhibitor@medica.de).

Following the successful development of recent years, over 5,000 exhibitors are expected to participate in MEDICA 2017. Last year, 127,800 trade visitors from 135 countries took part in MEDICA and concurrently held supplier trade fair COMPAMED.
