GLOBAL SHOES 2009 POISED TO GROW

GLOBAL SHOES 2009 – leading trade show for sourcing - is back on track and poised to grow. Some 380 exhibitors from 21 countries will display their footwear collections at the fairgrounds in Düsseldorf, Germany from September 11 - 13, 2009. Even though this is still a 15% decrease compared to the 2008 staging, it is an impressive 34% increase compared to the March 2009 GLOBAL SHOES staging. This underscores its significance as a leading trade fair for OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) and volume suppliers. Group stand exhibitors from countries such as Korea, Indonesia, Thailand and Singapore will participate in September after not exhibiting in the March 2009 event due to the economic crisis. India’s Council for Leather Exports (CLE) also advises shoe manufacturers to take part in GLOBAL SHOES again.

“After a turbulent start in the year, the situation in the worldwide footwear business appears to have settled a little bit. Many producers are more optimistic about the future,” commented Kirstin Deutelmoser, Project Director of GLOBAL SHOES. “We are obviously delighted that the exhibitors are coming to Düsseldorf again. Manufacturers who have otherwise reduced their trade fair participation are showcasing their products at GLOBAL SHOES. They know they can do real business in Düsseldorf because all key European volume buyers attend the trade fair.”

The GLOBAL SHOES exhibitors will present a wide range of women’s, men’s, children’s and sports shoes as well as casual and wellness footwear. “GLOBAL SHOES is a representative reflection of the volume market business. Virtually all key suppliers will attend in September,” stated Kirstin Deutelmoser. Strong market suppliers will include Novo Model Scoop (Israel), Michel X (Hong Kong), Cortina China, Studio 56 and Allied Champion (all from China), JC Concept and A&A Mad Mad (both from Malaysia), Eurowind (Taiwan), Euromax (France) and RAM Fashion (India).

GDS 2009 – International Event for Shoes & Accessories – will be held concurrently with GLOBAL SHOES 2009. A total of 1,145 exhibitors from 42 countries will display their latest footwear and bag collections at both events.
