EXCELLENT BUSINESS RESULTS AT ARABPLAST AND TEKNO/TUBE ARABIA 2009

A total of 13,572 visitors from 72 countries generated deals worth millions of dollars at the recent concurrent staging of Arabplast - 9th International Plastics & Rubber Industry Trade Show and Tekno/Tube Arabia - 9th International Trade Fair for Industrial Machinery, Metalworking, Machine Tools, Dies/Molds, Tubes/Pipes Industry, in Dubai. The 575 exhibitors at Arabplast 2009 and the 257 exhibitors at Tekno/Tube Arabia 2009 were more than pleased with their participation. The events were jointly organized by Al Fajer Information & Services and Messe Düsseldorf.

Satish Khanna, General Manager of Al Fajer Information & Services, stated that this success confirmed that the plastic and tube industries in the Middle East are still improving and defying the current economic situation. "Arabplast and Tekno/Tube Arabia proved that they are not only an information gathering venue but also a sales platform at the manufacturing level," added Satish Khanna.

Erhard Wienkamp, Division Director of Messe Düsseldorf, agreed: “These trade fairs have developed into the Arab world’s leading communications and business platforms for plastics and rubber, industrial machinery, tubes and pipes. Through our combined efforts, we have succeeded in putting together events which provide a representative and comprehensive overview of state-of-the-art technology, products and services.” Messe Düsseldorf is renowned as the organizer of the leading international events for the plastics and tube industries - K and Tube in Düsseldorf, Germany.

The majority of buyers at Arabplast and Tekno/Tube Arabia 2009 came from Iran, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, UAE, Yemen, Iraq>, India, Pakistan and African countries. “Industry professionals who visited the show were mostly decision makers, resulting in lucrative business deals at the two shows,” explained Satish Khanna.

Exhibitors at both trade fairs reported that the Middle East held tremendous potential for industrial machinery, given the rapid expansion and huge investments in the manufacturing sector. The Taiwanese exhibitors sold more than $ 5 million worth of machinery products according to Linda Sun from the Taiwan Pavilion.

Paola Pedrotti, Managing Director of Pedrotti Meccanica, commented: "We are here through the ASSIST organization. This is our first participation. We have customers from Morocco, Tunisia and Egypt and we were able to get in touch with them by participating in Arabplast".

Diana Lin from Yicheen Technology stated that “We have used Arabplast as a barometer to test the market. We want to acquire more business from this region and it is essential that we network with industry professionals like the ones we have met during the four days of the show".

"The Quality of the visitors is higher. We have met a lot of visitors that have enquiries. We participate at four exhibitors worldwide and Arablast is one of them. The organization is excellent", commented Wang Gen Hong, General Manager of Zhongyan Mould Industry.

The Tekno/Tube Arabia 2009 exhibitors were equally pleased. Cristina Rossi, Sales Department Manager at I.M.E.C. Tubes, said: "We participated here in 2007 as well. We are part of the Italian pavilion. It is imperative to be present in this exhibition to increase our presence in the region. Our international business constitutes 50% of what we produce for the Italian market. We were able to meet Chinese and Indian customers at this show. We also worked on meeting potential agents to represent us in this market to open up regional offices at a later stage."

The next concurrent staging of Arabplast and Tekno/Tube Arabia will take place in spring 2011.
