Press passes for trade shows held in Düsseldorf, Germany are only issued to editors and publishers and can be obtained in advance of the show from Messe Düsseldorf North America (send an e-mail to ameerboth@mdna.com) or on show-site at the press registration on the ground floor of the administration tower. After presenting proper identification (magazine with name and title “editor” or “publisher” in masthead together with ID card or passport), members of the press will receive a press pass and a show directory. The press pass provides free access to the fairgrounds and the designated press parking area during a trade show, permits free use of public transportation in Düsseldorf for the show’s duration and entitles the bearer to the use of all Press Center services.
A large, modern Press Center located on the first floor of in the administration tower provides a wide variety of services for members of the press. In the Press Center, journalists have access to press information, exhibitor product information, photo service, PC workstations, wireless Internet access (W-LAN), e-mail, telephones, fax and copy machines. Snacks and refreshments are also served. English-speaking personnel are in attendance at all times. The Press Center is open during trade show hours, usually from 9:00 am - 7:00 pm daily.
The fairgrounds press parking lot (P4) is located in front of Halls 15/16, close to the press entrance in the administration building. A valid press pass has to be presented at the gate to enter the press parking lot.
Pre-show and post-show press conferences offering general information on the current trade show are held in the Congress Center or the Press Center on the first and last day of the show. Exhibitor press conferences usually take place in the meeting rooms of the Congress Center or at the company’s booth. Press conferences are announced on the bulletin board in the Press Center. Many press conferences are also listed in the “press guide” booklet which is available in the Press Center.
A special press guide booklet lists all special events for members of the press during a trade show. This includes press conferences and meetings, the official show opening ceremony, the exhibitors’ night and the Meet-the-Press reception. The booklet contains a listing of the exhibitors with their press contacts, hall and booth numbers and planned press event.
A copy machine is available in the Press Center.
A separate section of the Press Center is reserved for exhibitor press kits. In alphabetical order, the press kits of the individual exhibitors at a trade show are displayed. Most press kits are available in English.
Members of the press can use the lockers in the Press Center to store their personal belongings.
Digital photos of a trade show will be posted daily in the Press Center and can be ordered on CD-Rom or be send by e-mail. Photographers and special photographic services can be arranged through the Press Center personnel.
A broadcast studio with live broadcasting and recording is available at the fairgrounds. The use of the studio can be organized through the Press Center.
A restaurant for the exclusive use of the international press is located in the Press Center. Hot lunches are served daily for a small price.
Members of the press receive a show directory free of charge at the press registration or in the Press Center.
Complete television broadcasts can be arranged. The Press Center personnel will help with details and technical assistance.
The Press Center personnel can arrange the service of translators.
