Southeast Asia’s leading medical and occupational safety trade fairs recently closed to positive results. Held concurrently in Singapore, HOSPIMEDICA ASIA 2006, 6th International Exhibition on Hospital, Diagnostic, Pharmaceutical, Medical & Rehabilitation Equipment & Supplies, and OS+H Asia 2006, 5th Occupational Safety + Health Exhibition for Asia, presented a comprehensive range of the latest equipment, supplies, innovations and services.

A total of 350 international and national exhibitors from 32 countries - including the 13 country pavilions from Australia, Austria, Belgium, China, France, Germany, Great Britain, India, Korea, Pakistan, Singapore, Spain and Taiwan – took part in HOSPIMEDICA ASIA 2006. At OS+H Asia 2006, 125 exhibitors, brands, agents and distributors from 17 countries were represented. Some 200 delegates attended the OSH – A Business Advantage Conference.

HOSPIMEDICA ASIA 2006 attracted 5,445 trade visitors. Visitors from countries other than Singapore accounted for almost 40% of the attendee total and the majority of these visitors came from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and India. A significant number of buyers from Vietnam, Taiwan, Philippines and China were also present.

OS+H Asia 2006 welcomed 4,012 visitors - with 20% of the attendees coming from outside of Singapore. Among the Southeast Asia countries, Singapore has one of the more vigilant OSH practices. The recent introduction of Singapore’s new Workplace Safety and Health Act (WSHA) in March 2006 and the Workplace Safety and Health Risk Management Regulations in September 2006 attracted more safety officers and decision makers to OS+H Asia. Buyers from Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and China also visited OS+H Asia 2006.

According to a visitor survey (480 trade visitors) 70% of the attendees were pleased with the products and services on display at both trade fairs, 72% were likely to make their purchases on show site or soon after the show and 84% rated their visit as useful.

The next HOSPIMEDICA ASIA and OS+H Asia events will be held concurrently from September 16 – 18, 2008 in Singapore.
