EXHIBITOR REGISTRATIONS FOR MEDICA 2010 A SIGN OF INDUSTRY OPTIMISM
Exhibitor registration figures for
MEDICA 2010, World Forum for Medicine - International Trade Fair and Congress, are a clear sign of optimism in the medical technology industry. With over 4,000 registered exhibitors and about 1.2 million square feet of exhibition space booked so far, the number of exhibitors at the world's largest medical trade fair is expected to surpass the results of the show’s staging in 2009. MEDICA will be held from November 17 - 20, 2010 at the fairgrounds in Düsseldorf, Germany.
“Lately, demand has been slow in the North American and European medical technology markets, but exports are improving now, especially for German manufacturers, and many companies take advantage of MEDICA to strengthen their contacts. MEDICA is thus, once again, an outstanding platform for intercontinental business and a global hub“, explained Horst Giesen, Project Director of MEDICA 2010.
Following German companies, the largest amount of exhibit space at MEDICA 2010 has been reserved by exhibitors from Italy, China, Great Britain, the U.S. and France. The number of repeat exhibitors, both from Germany and abroad, has remained high. This includes leading companies such as Siemens, Getinge-MAQUET, the MMM Group, Karl Storz and Systema.
For U.S. companies, Messe Düsseldorf North America organizes two U.S. Pavilions at MEDICA 2010 – one for laboratory equipment, reagents, invitro/invivo diagnostics, devices, systems and pharmaceuticals, the other for medical technology and electromedical equipment.
Traditionally, over 350 exhibitors from the U.S. take part in MEDICA.
Key topics at MEDICA 2010 will include electromedicine/medical technology, laboratory technology/diagnostics, physiotherapy/orthopaedic technology and medical products (devices and consumables) as well as information and communication technology and medical furnishings. In addition, the trade fair will again feature established segments on specific themes such as MEDICA MEDIA (telemedicine/medical IT), MEDICA VISION (the innovation forum for the research institutes) and the physiotherapy forum.
The MEDICA Congress will include lectures about cancer, cardiovascular and age-related diseases as well as advanced training courses on subjects such as sonography, emergency medicine and endoscopy.
For the first time, the German Society for Computer and Robotic Assisted Surgery (CURAC) will hold its annual conference CURAC2010 (on November 18 and 19) as part of the MEDICA Congress. The main focus of this conference will be on topics such as surgical simulation, computer-aided interventional radiology, ergonomic optimization of operating rooms, multimodal operation planning and intraoperative measuring techniques. By holding its conference in connection with MEDICA, CURAC plans to expand interdisciplinary interaction between scientists, developers and users in this young and highly innovative field.
Another first at the MEDICA Congress will be the “1st AiF user’s forum on medical technology and implants – wound dressings“, a one-day event to take place on November 18 with lectures by representatives from industry, science and medicine on medical technology products (for example for skin and tissue grafts or for specialized wound care).
MEDICA 2010 will also host the 33rd German Hospital Conference, the leading event for decision makers in hospital management.
COMPAMED 2010, International Trade Fair – High Tech Solutions for Medical Technology, will be held parallel with MEDICA 2010 (from November 17 - 19, 2010) and strong exhibitor registration has also been recorded for this event. About 500 exhibitors will showcase the latest high-tech solutions for use in the medical device technology industry, such as micro system technology, nano technology, new materials as well as packaging and services.
