The Board of Investment (BOI) reported that printing and packaging exports are expected to grow 25% to US$ 3.47 billion this year since several Japanese and Singaporean firms have relocated their regional manufacturing centers to Thailand. The Kingdom is increasingly becoming an investment destination and continues to have one of Southeast Asia’s most competitive economies. Thailand’s food industry grew by 2.7% in 2008 and growth of 3.6% is anticipated in 2009 despite the global economic downturn. Japan, the U.S., the European Union and China are Thailand’s primary export markets, reflecting the global confidence in the quality and safety of its agriculture products. The food sector will continue to remain greatly dependent on high quality packaging and printing solutions in order to maintain its position in global markets.
