October 2008 SHOP DESIGN RUSSIA 2008 CONFIRMS POSITION AS LEADING EVENT FOR INDUSTRYSHOP DESIGN RUSSIA 2008, International Trade Fair for Shop Fitting, Lighting Technology, IT Systems and Retail Marketing, again confirmed its position as the leading event for the industry in Russia: at the recent staging in Moscow, 103 exhibitors from Russia, Germany, Ukraine, Italy, Spain and Turkey displayed their innovations on 64,580 square feet of exhibit space to 8,800 visitors. SHOP DESIGN RUSSIA was organized by Messe Düsseldorf and its subsidiary Messe Düsseldorf Moscow OOO in cooperation with Expopark Exhibition Projects. The exhibiting companies were extremely pleased with the number of experts from all sectors of the retail industry and the level of interest shown. Shop fitting and store equipment, building and lighting technology, refrigeration technology, visual merchandising and sales promotions as well as communication, information and security technology and exhibition stand construction were the main focus of SHOP DESIGN RUSSIA 2008. An ancillary program complemented the exhibits. POPAI (Point of Purchase Advertising International) Russia, the Global Association for Marketing at-Retail in cooperation with Messe Düsseldorf Moscow and Expopark Exhibition Projects organized the “Best Points!” festival of POP/POS advertising. This event included the national competition for the best display system and the presentation of the “OMA Russia Awards”. In addition, the "EURASIA – P.O.S. TODAY” international conference with the title “Update on Marketing Communications in Retail” offered attendees an information platform. For the first time, the fashion trade fair CPM – Collection Premičre Moscow was held concurrently with SHOP DESIGN RUSSIA. The international visitors who were primarily from the wholesale, retail, shop fitting, sales, design, advertising, marketing and architecture sectors benefitted from the synergies and saw the latest trends in fashion retailing. Exhibitors, visitors and the organizers agreed: the Russian Federation continues to offer tremendous potential for the retail industry. Due to the ongoing expansion in retail space and the rise of a customer base with increasing purchasing power, the region is of growing importance to service providers for the retail industry. According to URALSIB Financial Corporation, growth in the Russian retail market is expected to climb by 11% annually until 2010. The next staging of SHOP DESIGN RUSSIA is scheduled for September 2009 in Moscow.
