April 2009 OVER 300 EXHIBITORS REGISTERED FOR METALLURGY TRADE FAIRS IN RUSSIADespite the difficult economic conditions, Metallurgy-Litmash (International Trade Fair for Metallurgy, Machinery, Plant Technology and Products), Tube Russia (The International Tube and Pipe Trade Fair in Russia) and Aluminium/Non-Ferrous 2009 (International Trade Fair for Aluminum and Non-Ferrous Metals, Materials, Technologies and Products), will have a similar turnout as in 2008: more than 300 exhibitors from 27 countries will present their products on some 43,000 square feet of net exhibit space. As in the past, the trade fairs will feature national group exhibits from Austria, China, Germany, Italy and the U.K. as well as individual exhibitors from Canada, Denmark, France, Korea, Taiwan and Turkey, among others. The events will be held from May 12 – 15, 2009 in Moscow and will be organized by Messe Düsseldorf and its subsidiary Messe Düsseldorf Moscow OOO in cooperation with their Russian partner Metalexpo. After years of impressive growth rates, the Russian metallurgy industry cannot escape the effects of the slowdown in the global economy. Even though, the need for upgrades in Russia is tremendous and interest in innovative technologies is solid. Although many investments will have to be put on hold for now, the market’s long-term prospects are considered excellent.
