SUCCESSFUL FIRST WIRE AND TUBE SOUTHEAST ASIA STAGING

The first staging of wire and Tube Southeast ASIA in Bangkok confirmed the show’s status as the region’s leading platform for the wire, cable, tube and pipe industries. The trade fairs attracted 7,038 trade visitors from more than 60 countries. A total of 33% of the visitors came from overseas, mostly from China, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Indonesia, Korea and the Middle East.

At wire and Tube Southeast ASIA 2007, 381 exhibiting companies from 30 nations - including country group exhibits from Austria, China, France, Germany, Italy, Taiwan, the UK and the U.S. (which included the Wire and Cable Industry Suppliers Association) - occupied 161,400 square feet of gross exhibit space.

The trade fairs were opened by Khun Chakramon Phasukavanich, Permanent Secretary of Thailand’s Ministry of Industry, and in his opening address he stated that the staging of wire and Tube Southeast ASIA in Bangkok “is indeed timely with Thailand’s aspiration to be ‘The Hub of Asia’…” and that both the trade fairs “will provide avenues for the various business sectors to work closely to tap the potentials arising from the regional integration initiatives as well as Thailand’s own initiatives with existing and potential trading partners.”

Khun Chakramon added that “Thailand is an exciting growth market in Asia and enjoys a strategic location.” Gernot Ringling, Managing Director of Messe Düsseldorf Asia, agreed and commented that “Thailand’s central location within the region is opening more trade and investment opportunities” which is favorable for the staging of the wire and tube trade fairs in Thailand.
