NEW CONFECTIONERY PROCESSING AND PACKAGING EQUIPMENT ZONE AT SWOP 2017

Due to the large number of international innovative processing and packaging products for the confectionery and bakery sectors showcased at swop 2017 - Shanghai World of Packaging – the trade fair will feature a new zone specifically for confectionery processing and packaging equipment. swop 2017 will take place from November 7 - 10 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC). Leading European manufacturers displaying their technologies in this new zone will include Theegarten-Pactec, Chocotech, Winkler+Dünnebier, Hänsel Processing, LoeschPack and Hansa Mixer.

According to statistics, the total output value of China’s candies and chocolates from January to October 2016 reached about EUR 7.6 billion, with an increasing growth rate of 17.64%. Data also shows that China’s candy and chocolate market has an annual average growth rate which is nearly 6% higher than that of the global candy and chocolate market, presenting a consumption potential of approximately EUR 2.55 billion. In Switzerland, the annual chocolate consumption per capita is 10kg, while in China it is only 40 - 70g. Once consumption in China reaches the 1kg mark per capita annually, the country will become the world’s largest chocolate market. China has become the chocolate market with the highest development potential and the main chocolate brands around the world have taken notice. Mondelezhas recently announced its decision to officially introduce a new chocolate brand in China, following other foreign companies entering the Chinese mainland such as Mars, Ferrero, Nestle and Hershey.

On the other hand, China’s confectionery manufacturers are not as competitive as international brands in terms of taste and packaging. Domestic chocolate brands have also completely stayed out of the mainstream market. According to research, the inferior position of domestic chocolate brands can mainly be attributed to a lack of investment in production, R&D, processing, manufacturing, packaging, design, marketing and promotion. swop 2017 will be an ideal platform for foreign manufacturers to introduce their innovations on the Chinese market.

Renowned candy and chocolate manufacturers such as Ferrero, Hershey, Callebaut, UHA, Meiji, GLICO, Lindt, Hsu Fu Chi, Oishietc. have already pre-registered to visit swop 2017.
