After three days of strong activities on the show floor, wire Southeast ASIA 2015, the 11th International Wire and Cable Trade Fair for Southeast Asia and Tube Southeast ASIA 2015, the 10th International Tube and Pipe Trade Fair for Southeast Asia, came to successful close in Bangkok: 411 international companies from 33 countries, including seven national group exhibits from Austria, China, Germany, Italy, Taiwan, the UK and the U.S. showcased their latest technologies to 7,144 international trade visitors from 56 countries. With almost 33% of these visitors coming from outside Thailand - from countries such as Bangladesh, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Indonesia, Myanmar and Pakistan - as well as visiting delegations from China, Japan, Korea and Vietnam, wire and Tube Southeast ASIA 2015 confirmed their status as the regional platform for the wire and tube industries.

The formation of the single-economy ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) at the end of this year together with the start of Thailand’s Infrastructure Development Plan – which includes massive transformation to the country’s overall national infrastructure from 2015 to 2022 – will result in robust business opportunities for the wire and tube industries in the coming years. “The staging of the synergistic trade fairs comes at a timely juncture, presenting itself as a valuable platform to promote better understanding and business connections between Thailand, the region and the international community for mutual benefit,” stated Gernot Ringling, Managing Director of Messe Düsseldorf Asia.

Exhibitors at wire and Tube Southeast ASIA 2015 were pleased with their participation. According to Christian Schalich, Area Sales Manager for SIKORA AG: “Our main objective for participating is to showcase our latest machinery to customers from the region. At the trade fair, we were able to accomplish this and at the same time explain the advanced technologies of our machines while the customers test them. Having talked with more visitors than two years ago, I am pleased that we have met our objective fully and will surely be back in 2017.”

For French exhibitor Numalliance, the successful sale of a machine to a Thai customer was the highlight of their participation at wire and Tube Southeast ASIA 2015. “Not only does this trade exhibition reach out to the domestic Thai market, but it also drew large numbers of industry visitors from regional countries who otherwise wouldn’t be entering the European markets,” said Patrick Maurissen, Sales Director for Numalliance.

Wang Fei, Corporate Program Manager at China Petroleum Technology & Development Corporation agrees and mentioned that they met with clients from India, Bangladesh, Thailand and Indonesia: “Through onsite discussions, we learned about the purchasing requirements and products that are of interest to our regional clientele and got a better grasp of the region’s market trends, which will be helpful for the future planning of our business.”

wire and Tube Southeast ASIA 2015 were supported by international industry partners from the International Wire & Machinery Association (IWMA), the Italian Wire Machinery Manufacturers Association (ACIMAF), the International Wire & Cable Exhibitors Association (IWCEA), the Austrian Wire and Cable Machinery Manufacturers Association (VÖDKM-AWCMA) as well as the International Wire and Cable Exhibitors Association - France (IWCEA-FRANCE), the German Wire and Cable Machine Manufacturers Association (VDKM), the Wire and Cable Industry Suppliers Association (WCISA) and the International Tube Association (ITA).

Association representatives spoke unanimously of the thriving market potential in Southeast Asia and the opportunities offered by wire and Tube Southeast ASIA for their members to acquire new business contacts and strengthen existing business relationships. “This edition is better than the last and we have seen good numbers and quality visitors. We've also received a steady stream of enquiries,” commented Ferruccio Bellina, President of ACIMAF. Newly appointed Chairman of IWMA, Amanda Shehab, added that “the Southeast Asian market is a significant and growing one, and thus the trade fair presents a great opportunity for the industry to explore the region’s potential.”

wire and Tube Southeast ASIA 2015 featured a series of conferences and seminars by industry experts from the King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, the Engineering Institute of Thailand, the Technology Promotion Agency, the International Copper Association (SEA) and the TumCivil.com Training Center. Topics ranged from safety and energy saving initiatives to installation standards, conversion of overhead power lines and structural analysis and design.

With plans for an enhanced and more improved 2017 edition of the trade fairs already underway, Gernot Ringling remarked: “As specialist trade exhibition organizers with an established history of almost two decades in Southeast Asia, driven by the world’s leading trade fairs - wire Düsseldorf and Tube Düsseldorf - we are committed to working hand in hand with our international industry partners and supporting industry associations to present yet another two world-class exhibitions in wire and Tube Southeast ASIA 2017, reflecting the upcoming economic and industry advancements.”

The next staging of wire and Tube Southeast ASIA will be held in 2017. Exact dates will be announce at a later date.
